Actually, I seem to have outlasted some of the people in my neighbourhood . . .
Nevertheless, my first post was back in November 2006, how much more do I have to offer? How much more am I prepared to give? Is anybody interested in my thoughts? Do I care about theirs?
At this point I'd like to give a special howzitgoin' to unikfrek, citizenblue and minusbaby, you're some cool people :)
Vox is great, but, yes, you only get out what you put in; you need to cultivate your 'vox relationships' . . .
I just don't think I have the time or energy any more.
It's not you, . . . it's me . . .

And for good reason too! But what is that reason?
It's a mystery! Even to me.
Saw Cat Power play at the Forum. Good show, not the greatest (no pun intended).
Err.
I've been working quite hard, learning quite a bit of Flex. It's good.
Bikes, bikes, bikes!
Finally re-animated my old mountain bike - it's truly a bike-enstein, there's about 6 bikes that have gone into one! Blimey!
Another road bike on the way . . . single speed. I'm not hip enough for a fixie . . .
So, I'm pretty tired and don't know what to write.
I feel a bit useless when it comes to this blog/social networking bizzo, a bit non-committal.
So here's a photo of me (hey, everyone else does it!) . . .
- Reading "On Creativity" by Bohm (forgot his first name).
- My friends have this event: www.penthousemouse.com.au (well done!)
- I don't understand creationists
- Watched a 16mm film (actually film) at a friends studio the other night - Rosemary's Baby
- Working kind of hard.
- And some other stuff.
- Here's some photos of handmade signs that I find appealing:
Every evening as the sun sets, many fruit bats fly over out house, heading - strangely - west.
This was my best attempt at capturing two of them on their way.
Also, I finally mastered poached eggs.
Sounds silly I know, but I'd never learned.
I'm quite chuffed :)
Turned 30 a couple of weeks ago too.
(!)
Peace to all.
Been reading a book on the Australian language. Now the book was written - let me check - 1966, so it's interesting from a historical point of view (of course). Fascinating. Well, some bits are a bit boring.
Here's an interesting bit, a section from the chapter "The City Yesterday", entitled "Popular Jargon":
apples, right, satisfactory
chuck up, to vomit
crack on, to discover
crockery, false teeth
dip one's lid, to raise one's hat
fed with, "fed up with", of which it is an abbreviation
laughing gear, (false) teeth
on the tooth, hungry
nadget, the head
sweet, ready, prepared, satisfied
throw a map, to be sick
toey, worried or anxious, nervously alert
That'll do. There's heaps of other glossaries of slang etc. Some words are still used today, though it seems to me that our language is a whole lot less colourful. Which is a shame, I suppose.
The book's called "The Australian Language" and it's written by Sidney J. Baker.
Merry Christmas, by the way :)
No time to post any more.
Oh shit! Just got back from Japan > Osaka and Shikoku. I'll post some photos soon. Just for evidence, so you know I'm not bullshitting.
Hey also, I'm trying to find the FourTet and Koushik 'Madvilliany' remixes.
Anybody know where I can buy them mp3 or LP/CD?
It's probably on US itunes, but it's not on Australian itunes. Sucks.
Annnd we have a new Prime Minister, maybe I won't have the dilemma of choosing the least evil country to move to anymore (fingers crossed).
Some photos?
01Squeaky wheel gets the grease. My version of client management. It's alright, I'm my own boss. I'm thinking of firing myself anyway. :) | 02Bought Koushik's CD collection of his EPs, entitled "Be With". And I do like it. | 03I sold a Santa Cruz Jason Jessee 88 skateboard deck for AUS$278 on eBay.My parents bought me it back in the 80s when I was just a little'un, but I never really used it. Now it's a collectors item!? I feel bad that I feel sad to part with material things, though. |
my boyfriend randomly picked up a used fixie this week. It's Italian. It's piiiiink!!Is it ok for a guy to... read more
